Nicest place I ever stayed in. Brand new luxury.
The rooms, cleanliness, modern, convenience, breakfast etc. Nothing, good experience
From the moment we walked in the staff were friendly, helpful, and throughout our stay they were always ready to assist, whether providing an extra towel or arranging transportation. Things you might expect, but with a far better attitude than you tend to find in the USA. The entire hotel was very clean at all times, which is important to me. Toilets allow you to flush paper, unlike many local establishments. Food was consistently fresh and tasted excellent. No genuine complaints. Trying to think what I'd have preferred to be different, the hallways and bathroom were less brightly lit than I'd like, but not bad. The hotel is very much a European style and not intended to look local in any way. My teens were the youngest people I saw there, and it's not set up for young kids. Location is great if you plan to spend time in San Jose but not terribly convenient to tourist attractions...which is true of any hotel in San Jose.
Loved my rolm because it was very spacious, bed was comfortable, everything was clean except for the trash in the trashcan when I arrived in the room. TV was great with different languages including Mandarin.. Beautiful vien from my room overlooking the city. Staff was excellent, especially at the front desk. They are bilingual and very informative. Overall, I liked the hotel but I did not like the pool area. There were always meetings being held in that area constantly so I didnt have a chance to swim. The pool was small regardless. I did not like the restaurant or the service very well. I would sit down and 20 minutes would pass by without a waiter approaching me and I would sit where they could clearly see me. I then have to flag them down to put my order in. The food was okay and pricey. You could do better at McDonald's in taste and price. The free breakfast there was very nice. Good assortment of fruit, cereal, yogurt, meat, bread, egss, juice, and milk. Location around the area is not the safest. As a foreigner, I do not recommend others to walk alone. Use a taxi.
Nice hotel with a boutique feel. Hot complimentary breakfast, clean, spacious, and updated rooms. Get 100 channels on television, some of which are HBO and English speaking stations and local South Florida news. Beautiful view of the mountains and city of San Jose. Great location. Only a few blocks from city center. Staff friendly and English speaking. Very helpful with reserving airport transfers at a affordable price. Friendly staff. Would recommend. No complaints.
We have stayed in as well as visited other hotels in CR and nothing compares. We are very critical of a hotel's cleanliness, staff, smell, etc so believe me when I say this place is SPECTACULAR!!! It is exactly what one would expect a nice hotel in this part of the world to be. The rooms are inviting and relaxing as is the rest of the hotel. Bellhops meeting you curbside with umbrellas when it's raining is a small example of the service you will receive. Breakfast in the courtyard is a must. Even if you aren't a millionaire, you'll feel like one before the end of your meal. The atmosphere, food and staff were all top notch. Grano De Oro is a unique and personable hotel unmatched, period.
This is a gorgeous hotel right in downtown San Jose. About 20 minutes from the airport ($25 USD cab ride) and within walking distance (15 min) from the main plaza for shops/market. The staff are excellent. Everyone speaks very good english, very friendly, helpful and make you feel welcome. Security is also good with visible security out front of the hotel after dark (important in San Jose). We stayed two nights in a regular room with a small terrace and loved it. After returning from our coastal vacation we stayed another night in the top floor villa suite. This suite is fantastic and I definitely recommend it for someone who wants to spend the extra money for a memorable night. I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in San Jose.
We only stayed here one night before we left San Jose, but it was amazing. The staff were very helpful. They taught us a few phrases we needed to know and told us where we could get our money exchanged. They also gave us a few suggestions on where we could find a good meal. The rooftop hottubs were awesome. We went up there and relaxed and watched the stars. It felt as if we were miles away from the city, yet in the middle of it! There's also an amazing little bakery just down the street! The room was clean and cozy. The area we were in was like being inside a hotel, yet still outside. It's a great place to stay!
The restaurant in the hotel is wonderful. Staff is extremely helpful.
Upon arriving in Costa Rica, Hotel Grano de Oro was the first hotel my girlfriend and i stayed at. What i thought was going to be a decent place to catch some sleep before we headed north in the morning, turned out to be an amazing place, both modern and historic. The hotel is impeccable, the service - second to none. Though not as centrally located as some option, i found that this was not such a bad thing. A nice quiet evening in one of the two tropical hot tubs, was perfect after a long flight. And then there is the dining... The dining here, though not as traditional as some smaller places closer to the heart of the city, is top notch. Many locals agreed. There is also a great outdoor patio bar for those that want to unwind, which i did not hesitate to take advantage of! The ambiance is beautiful, and an extended awning makes even rainy evenings enjoyable. If you are staying in San Jose for any number of nights, this is a fantastic place. It is a bit of a walk to get to the cen...
