Very lovely mansion. Owner very helpful and accommodated my diet issue. Nice location. Felt very safe. Used uber. Hard to find street parking but owner let us park in driveway.
This dingy and slightly creepy old mansion looks like it was inherited by someone with all the stuff and then pretty much left as is. My room was okay, but there is NO A/C, so a loud window fan was it for the night. The young man working there was nice. The terrible breakfast! To pay that much for a mediocre room and be served cold cereal and a tasteless white muffin (NO hot entree) is unforgivable. The only + for this excuse for a B&B is the location. I've had better breakfasts at cheap motel chains.
This is a bed and breakfast in a large older house in a leafy suburb of Seattle. This is a well maintained classic old house full of original art and a very nice collection of antique furniture. The owner is a former Russian journalist who spends a lot of her time writing in her study/library. Think of it like staying overnight at the grand house of some educated bohemian friends. The neighborhood is very quiet, the house is next to an Olmstead park. You'll feel pretty far from downtown - but its just a short taxi ride from downtown - 15 minutes and $10-15. I stayed in the the largest room - the house's former master bedroom. It has a short entry hall, to a large bedroom, with a king size bed, and a walk-in closet. It has a huge bathroom, and then a pair of french doors lead out to a huge second floor balcony with a small table and chairs overlooking the street. I liked all of it. But some people may be put off by the relative informality of the place Not like a regular hotel at all - there is no front desk. You can easily end up in long conversations with the owner on politics, art and culture.
what I liked most was the friendliness of the owner. She is very attentive to the client's needs. also the breakfast is great. she cooks breakfast for you the way you want it and her croissants are always fresh. you can catch the bus right in front of the guest house and it's only a 10-15 mn ride to the convention center. if you want to take a taxi, it's about $8.75 dollars to the convention center. I cannot really say I disliked anything except that it was not waht I had expected initially but at the end I'm glad I stayed there.
