The hotel is a two minute walk going straight from exit 4 on the Sinseoldong subway exit. The staff was helpful and spoke English fluently. There is a 3pm check in that was enforced during my stay due to a booked hotel. The staff "upgraded" my room due to this.. The upgraded room was spacious with two love seats, a desk and a bed. In the room you have control of the air conditioner but it is a single unit installed in the ceiling. Which is very different from what most hotels in America have, a major ac unit with multiple vents. I think this one unit air conditioner is typical in Korea. Liked the western style bathroom even though I didn't fit the tub. The bed was very plush with a sink in effect, which was nice since the other two hotels in Korea had hard beds with light sheets. Very clean and the cleaning lady was very attentive! I really did not have much of a compliant about the encore hotel. There was a breakfast buffet which had satisfactory food, little flavor for the price. Also note that a hour to ending the buffet food is not replaced, just gone. But this i believe is cultural too I noticed in Paris baguette, dunkin donuts and other restaurants that they made only a limited quantity for the day.
The hotel staff(s) are very helpful and can speak english. The location of the hotel is near the subway station. Cleanliness. Free use of computer.
Room dark and dingy. Mini bar sparse. Window opened onto air condition unit and brick wall of building next door. Unable to open window shutter as mosquitoes came in - got many bites! Used soap bar + toothpaste left in bathroom. Breakfast poor. Expensive for what we thought was deluxe room
Really excellent value-for-the-money hotel! I stayed at the deluxe room with my friend and the staff gave us an extra bed without any extra payment which was really friendly. I don't have anything bad to say about the staff, they were really friendly and it was easy to ask things as they all understood English well. The free breakfast wasn't bad either, some omelette, ham, toast, salad and rice with vegetables and some orange juice. What I liked the most in this hotel was the extra luxury amenities like big 52 inch plasma tv which was connected to the computer and a service that had lots of free movies to watch. Also the bathroom was quite nice with a jacuzzi and a Japanese style high tech toilet with bidet. The location was good, too. The rooms aren't the cleanest ones possible and sometimes there's some noise from the outside but most people can cope with that.
Hotel Mare was a wonderful hotel to stay in. Considering the cheap room-prices, the standard was excellent! We found our room to be cozy and clean. The staff was so nice and they knew english very well. The subway was ten minutes away. I recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Seoul.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Of course not forgetting the 52 inch TV in the room. The water pressure from the shower is a bit too low.
