The location of this hotel was fantastic. Only ten minutes short walking distance to Back Bay and all of the restaurants, shops etc. The room was dirty. Carpet was not vacuumed, there were animal hairs on the carpet and bedspread. Stairs in the corridor, dirty. Free WIFI advertised -was not available in our room. Free breakfast was just a few cereals but no milk with it - not consumed.
It's a cross between an airbnb and a hotel. We were in a charming neighborhood with a cool, recently renovated, very functional suite. It was safe, convenient (close to the T Station)and attractive. WiFi was iffy. The directory on neighborhood restaurants, etc was missing. Neither was a big problem for us.
This is a small apartment building with several units. There is no hotel staff on premises. I had a decent studio apartment in a neighborhood just a few blocks south of the Hynes convention center. When I got there, I could not get in. I needed to have a keypad entry code for both the front door and my room. I called the property management people, but there was no answer. I left a message, but nobody called back. After about 20 minutes of standing outside, another call did go through. The person I spoke with said that I should have gotten an e-mail with the codes and my room number. He did give me this information, and I did get in. I thought the room was overpriced for what I got, but it was comfortable, and still less expensive than the convention center hotels.
We had a great experience at The Christopher! The room was clean, well furnished, and quiet. Absolutely zero 'hotel noise'; only the garbage truck Friday morning was heard. As advertised, it's close to the Pru and Copley Centers, and to all of downtown for that matter. The South Corridor Park walking trail, half a block away, gets you from Back Bay Station and Copley Square all the way to the Symphony on a quiet, paved urban trail with no traffic! Giaccomo's Restaurant is true Boston Italian and only steps away. The only things preventing a five-star rating were lack of heat controls in room (it was hot on the top floor) and a leaky sink in unit #8. We'll be staying here again to visit our son at Northeastern University.
