Beautiful boutique luxury hotel. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Great location in Cartagena. Amazing roof top pool! Some of the amenities could use some updating (i.e. wood floors, gym, etc.)
Welcoming, warm staff (with special mention to Vivianna); the rooms and particularly the comfort of the bed and the amazing shower; the plentiful, delicious breakfast each morning; and the phenomenal rooftop pool. The common areas are serene and beautiful, and the hotel is centrally located within the walled city. The concierge staff, while very responsive and helpful in advance of the trip, dropped the ball in following thru on all reservations and we missed out on a day trip to the Rosario Islands. The mishap was apparently due to a miscommunication with a former hotel employee. The hotel ended up treating us to a very nice city tour, but we were disappointed to have missed out on the island excursion. This was avoidable (hotel staff confirmed the itinerary just days before the trip); however, things worked out relatively satisfactorily in the end, and the hotel staff was very apologetic.
I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this hotel. You have all the amenities you could want from a top grade hotel, paired with a friendly/warm staff who make it feel more like a boutique hotel. The restaurant on the first floor (Harry Sasson) was also great. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Cartagena!
We liked everything about the Ananda Hotel, the concierge was most helpful with restaurants and getting around. We took the advice of others that had stayed there and had dinner at the Hotel, it was excellent and good value. Breakfast was included and was again excellent. Nothing not to like.
The location is good Hotel charged us $300 dollars upon checkout for VAT & city taxes even though we booked and paid through KAYAK!! No bill was given!! No gym, no buffet breakfast, mediocre service simple room, simple shower, nothing special except the location. Won't recommend this hotel. Go for Helton or intercontinental.
The hotel is beautiful. The staff is always willing to help to make sure your stay is unforgettable. The restaurant ALMA, located in the hotel, is one of the best restaurants in Cartagena. If you are going to spend time in the hotel and are with someone special, this is the place to stay. Unlike the bigger luxury hotels in Cartagena, this hotel offers a more personal/intimate service since there are only about 30 rooms! One of my favorite parts was the coconut treats that the staff leaves in your room every night, which are made in the hotel. I liked them so much, i bought a dozen to bring back with me! There were very few down sides to our stay, but there was some pressure cleaning of the pool area being done at night until 2am, which was a bit load/disturbing. Also, there are some parts of the hotel that you have to be quite in since some guests complain about everything (the roof sun deck is one of those areas)!
The good: Very nice staff. Beautiful indoor pool and charming architecture. Comfortable beds. You cannot beat the location. The bad: On our first night they put us in a terrible room (#105.) DO NOT ACCEPT THIS ROOM. ASK TO SEE YOUR ROOM BEFORE ACCEPTING. The room was dark, noisy, with a tiny window and a bathroom that was not air conditioned and had a window opening to the street that could not be closed! Again, be careful with the rooms because some are terrible. In the end, however, after staying in a decent room for several nights but which began to smell of sewage we were moved to a lovely room. The other issue is that the menu doesn't change and, after several days of the same selections we wanted variety. Overall, if you get the right room, it's an excellent hotel with very nice staff.
beautiful building, very nice staff, nice room Tepid hot water in bathroom, bathroom needed renovation (even taking into account historic nature of building), furniture in room especially tables need immediate renovation, could have been bought in good will
