The Literary Man Obidos Hotel

Loved the whole hotel’s concept. We also had a nice courtyard outside our room, which was the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine. It was easy to walk into the village, which was quant. Lots of tourists, but we did find a nice place with a view to enjoy a couple of beers. We had dinner in the hotel, and it was one of the best meal we had during our whole trip.

Parking was a bit of a challenge. It’s very, very hilly and parallel parking was almost impossible in some areas. Don’t park directly in front of the hotel, go around a bit where it’s a little more level. We saw a car that was blocked in, because they couldn’t back up without hitting the car in front of them. The owner of the other car finally came out, but they could of been stuck there for a very long time had they not been located.

The literary theme of the hotel is unique, Gin and wine bar awesome, very informed servers, eager and knowledgeable, friendly, gin and tonics great; food in the restaurant a TEN, best meal we had in Portugal; you can watch your meal being cooked if you want. If you go to this area you should stay here for one night, even if you also stay in the expensive Pousada on the hill as well; literary man is a real bucket list experience as far as hotels go.

Pillows too soft, mattress kind of hard, but didn’t really matter. Be prepared for possible parking challenge, but you will be able to park, Antonio will help you! No elevator, just FYI, prepare smaller bag just for the night so you don’t have to take in all you luggage.

The decoration makes this place unforgettable. The location and staff is also great.

The lack of sunlight make the carpe with a mouldy smell, which can give the wrong impression. Because The hotel was sparkling clean.
