The history and the character of the building itself. It was refreshing to stay somewhere traditional rather than in a chain of hotels where everything is the same and you're not even sure which Country you are in!. The roaring fire in the bar and the excellent service (recommendations!) actually made our stay for us.

It was a little complicated to find but then we discovered it was perfectly located to reach the main highways going south where we needed to be everyday. Also, the lack of choice in evening food wasn't good. We did use the Michelin star restaurant once which was nice, but we werent there on a special occasion so it was a little ott for our needs and overpriced for the actual standard of main meal - although the desserts were fabulous!.

The hotel staff were very helpful, and the general ambiance was good. Set in lovely gardens , the hotel is like an old English county manor.The room was adequate, and had a large bathroom. Breakfast was good.

This hotel is almost impossible to find without really really really good directions. The access roads are like spagetti junction. We had to hire a taxi to follow! The location of the hotel is a bit disappointing, especially true if you choose not to eat in .

Romanticismo de leyenda e historia. Optimo si deseas conocer Lisboa y Portugal/Sur viajando en coche. Buena relación calidad-precio. Entorno forestal muy bueno.

LLavero incómodo: deberían separar el portallaves del conector general de la corriente eléctrica. Interior complicado y laberíntico. El aparcamiento para coches debería estar cubierto (aunque esté al aire libre).

Very professional.staff; big, comfortable room.

Bar closes at midnight, and no room service after midnight. Difficult to understand in a 4-star hotel.
